Packaging That Performs on Shelf and in Use

In the FMCG sector, packaging is not a secondary consideration โ€” it is part of the product. A cap that does not seal reliably. A dispenser pump that sticks. A container in the wrong shade of the brand's blue. Any of these failures reaches the consumer and reflects on the brand, not the manufacturer they will never see.

APPL's injection moulding capability is well suited to the precise requirements of FMCG packaging. We work with food-grade polypropylene and HDPE, hold colour consistency batch-to-batch using our in-house masterbatch compounding, and produce at the volumes that FMCG supply chains require. Our moulds are designed for cycle efficiency โ€” because in high-volume packaging, seconds per cycle translate directly into cost.

Whether you are launching a new product and need a custom pack shape developed from scratch, or you need a reliable local manufacturer for an existing cap or container component, APPL can deliver both.

Built for Pakistan's Consumer Brands

Pakistan's FMCG sector โ€” personal care, food, beverages, household products, and pharma โ€” is large, growing, and increasingly brand-conscious. Consumers recognise pack quality. Retailers reward it with better shelf positioning. Brands that invest in packaging design and consistency win on shelf and build loyalty.

APPL serves FMCG packaging buyers who need a local manufacturer with the technical capability to produce to brand specification โ€” not just a generic cap or container that approximates what they need. Our in-house colour compounding, mould ownership, and QC process mean that what you approve at the sample stage is what ships in every subsequent batch.

Packaging Polymers โ€” Chosen for the Application

The right material for FMCG packaging balances food safety, appearance, mechanical performance, and cost. We process all the major packaging polymers and will recommend the right grade for your specific application.

Food-Grade

Polypropylene (PP) โœ“ Food Safe

The most versatile FMCG packaging material. Excellent chemical resistance, steam-sterilisable (autoclave-safe for food processing), and available in clarity grades (COPP) for see-through containers. Used for caps, closures, containers, jars, and most household packaging. Lightweight, rigid, and cost-effective at high volumes. Our most processed material for FMCG applications.

Food-Grade

HDPE โ€” High Density Polyethylene โœ“ Food Safe

The industry standard for bottles, jerry cans, and wide-neck containers carrying liquids โ€” from edible oils to shampoo to cleaning products. HDPE is chemically inert, UV-stable in pigmented grades, and approved for direct food contact. It offers excellent drop resistance for containers that are handled frequently or shipped in bulk quantities.

COPP

Clarified Polypropylene (COPP)

Where PP needs to be transparent. Clarifying agents are compounded into standard PP to achieve near-glass clarity โ€” used for food containers where the consumer needs to see the product, cosmetic jars where the content is part of the product experience, and premium packaging where clarity signals quality. Maintains all the processing advantages of PP.

Food-Grade

LDPE โ€” Low Density Polyethylene โœ“ Food Safe

Soft, flexible, and squeezable โ€” LDPE is used for flexible caps, squeeze bottle components, and any closure that requires flex to operate (flip-top living hinges, for example). Its low stiffness and excellent chemical resistance make it ideal for packaging containing solvents, cosmetics, or food products where flexible dispensing is part of the user experience.

PVC

PVC โ€” Polyvinyl Chloride

Used for rigid transparent packaging where optical clarity and a premium feel are required at a lower cost than COPP. PVC is commonly used for cosmetic packaging, blisters, and display containers. Note: not suitable for direct food contact in most applications โ€” we will advise on appropriate food-contact alternatives where needed.

ABS / HIPS

ABS & HIPS โ€” Rigid Display Packaging

For packaging that is more than a container โ€” display stands, premium gift box inserts, cosmetic compacts, and retail fixtures that form part of the branded product experience. ABS provides a superior surface finish for painted or chrome-effect components. HIPS is a more cost-effective option for back-of-house trays and inner packaging structures.

All food-grade material certificates are available on request. We maintain traceability from raw material batch to finished part despatch.

FMCG Packaging Specialisations

๐ŸŽจ

Colour Accuracy, Batch to Batch

Brand colour is non-negotiable in FMCG. Our in-house masterbatch compounding means we can match Pantone, RAL, or a physical colour chip โ€” and replicate it precisely across every subsequent production batch. No colour drift between orders.

๐Ÿ”’

Food-Grade Material Compliance

We process food-grade PP and HDPE grades with material certificates available for every batch. If your packaging has direct food contact requirements, we will specify the correct grade and provide the documentation your procurement team needs.

โšก

High-Volume Cycle Efficiency

Packaging economics are won in cycle time. Our multi-cavity moulds are designed for fast cycles โ€” more parts per hour, lower cost per unit. This matters at the run sizes that FMCG brands require.

๐Ÿ—๏ธ

Mould Design for Packaging

Packaging moulds have specific requirements โ€” side actions for undercuts in closures, stripper plates for thin-walled containers, hot runners for consistent fill. Our mould shop designs and builds tooling specifically for packaging applications.

๐Ÿ”ฌ

QC: Seal, Fit & Appearance

Our QC process for packaging components checks thread engagement, seal torque (for closures), dimensional fit, and visual appearance against colour and surface standards. We check the functional performance of what we ship โ€” not just the dimensions.

From Brief to Shelf

01

Packaging Brief

Tell us what you need: the product it contains, the capacity, how it opens, the consumer experience you want, your brand colour, and any reference packaging. The more context you give us, the better the outcome.

02

Design & DFM Review

We model the pack or closure in 3D and review for mould feasibility โ€” wall thickness, draft angles, undercuts, sealing geometry. We share the design with you and incorporate your feedback before any tooling begins.

03

Colour Match & Approval

We compound the masterbatch to your colour specification and produce colour chips for approval before the mould is built. This separates the colour approval from the tooling timeline, saving weeks.

04

Mould Build & First Samples

The mould is built in-house and first samples are produced. You receive physical samples for testing โ€” fit with your container, seal performance, consumer feel โ€” before production is approved.

05

Production & Repeat Supply

Once samples are approved, production begins. Your mould is stored and maintained by APPL. Repeat orders are processed against locked process parameters โ€” consistent quality, every run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you guarantee colour consistency across repeat orders?

Yes โ€” this is one of our core strengths for FMCG customers. Because we compound masterbatch colour in-house, we control the colour specification rather than relying on an external supplier's batch. Each production run is colour-checked against the approved standard before despatch. Colour chips from your approved batch are retained as the reference for all future orders.

Are your materials safe for direct food contact?

We process food-grade PP and HDPE grades that are approved for direct food contact under relevant regulations. Material certificates are available on request. If you have specific regulatory requirements (e.g., EU food contact regulations for export markets), please specify these at the enquiry stage and we will advise on the appropriate grade and documentation.

Can you develop a completely new pack shape from a sketch?

Absolutely. Bring us a sketch, a reference product, a mood board, or just a written brief โ€” we will model the pack in 3D, share the design for your feedback, and incorporate your changes before tooling. Many of our FMCG clients use a custom pack shape as a brand asset; we can help you build that asset from a blank page.

What is the minimum order quantity for packaging components?

For standard production runs, our typical minimum is 5,000 pieces โ€” though this varies by part size and mould cavitation. For new product development and sample approval, we can produce as few as 500 pieces from the production mould. Once production is established, repeat orders can be structured around your stocking requirements.

Who owns the mould?

You do. Once the mould is paid for and production samples are approved, the mould belongs to you. APPL stores and maintains it as part of our service โ€” but it is your asset. If you ever need to move production, you can take your mould with you. This is our standard arrangement for all clients.

Can you match an existing cap or container that I am currently importing?

Yes. Send us the existing component and we will measure it, review the geometry, advise on material matching, and quote for local production. Replacing an import with local manufacture typically saves 30โ€“50% on unit cost and removes the lead time and logistics risk of international supply. We can usually have first local samples within 4โ€“6 weeks of confirmed order.
